How DocReady is Supporting Businesses During the Pandemic

By Ali Chaudhary M.D
Co-Founder & CEO
COVID-19 has forced everyone to change the way they do things. With over 23 million total COVID-19 infections in the U.S. and 380,000 deaths, drastic measures to keep employees safe are imperative in keeping companies running smoothly during the pandemic. Employees becoming infected with COVID-19 and the danger of transmitting the infection to others can lead to significant impact on business operations. For example, Amazon reported in October 2020 that over 19,000 employees contracted COVID-19, leading to significant logistical challenges. 19,000 employees required to take at least 10 days off from work, is a total of 190,000 work days that Amazon had to account for due to COVID19 infections of its workforce.

The CDC recommends those exposed to COVID-19 or who have a confirmed diagnosis, to quarantine for 10, 14, or 20+ days depending on the particular situation. This means an employee will be out of work for at least 10-20 days. Having access to healthcare professionals who are well versed with the various CDC guidelines is essential in making sure employees are taking the necessary time off to quarantine, thereby protecting their co-workers by limiting the spread of COVID-19 at the workplace.

Access to physicians was a challenge even prior to the pandemic. The Association of American Medical Colleges determined in 2019 that the “United States will see a shortage of up to nearly 122,000 physicians by 2032, as demand for physicians continues to grow faster than supply”. This shortage has been exacerbated by the pandemic and the added stress to our healthcare systems has been catastrophic. Employers are struggling to find readily available access to physicians for their employees during this time. This leads to even more days off from work and additional loss of productivity. Telehealth services can be a safer option for patients by reducing potential infectious exposures.

DocReady is providing organizations easy and affordable access to board-certified physicians that can care for a variety of medical conditions. This includes evaluating employees to determine when they are safe to return to work after COVID-19 exposure or infection. Our physicians are trained on the latest CDC guidelines and can help ensure employees are taking the necessary precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19. In addition, up to 40% of patients are not getting regular follow ups with their doctor or seeking medical attention out of fear of contracting COVID-19. Delay in medical care can lead to an increase in morbidity and mortality risk associated with treatable and preventable medical conditions. DocReady’s 100% virtual clinic can address many of these healthcare needs. We offer COVID-19 evaluations, urgent care, primary care and mental health services. We are also equipped to send electronic prescriptions to any pharmacy in the United States.

The ability to see a doctor virtually is a game changer. Organizations and businesses must ensure their employees and work environments are safe and do everything they can to limit the spread of COVID-19. Partnering with a telehealth company such as DocReady can be invaluable to the well being of the workforce that companies rely on to make them successful.
